Project Overview:
The Mississippi Blood Services Headquarters, located in Flowood, Mississippi, is a vital healthcare facility supporting blood collection and distribution across the state. Following repeated moisture intrusion issues and visible façade damage, BMC was brought in to provide a full forensic assessment and develop a comprehensive building envelope remediation plan.
This facility, which includes administrative offices, blood storage, and clean-room environments, required a solution that could protect both the building’s structural integrity and its sensitive interior environments from ongoing water intrusion.
Project Outcome:
BMC conducted detailed investigations and testing to determine the root causes of moisture infiltration — including faulty window system integrations and flashing deficiencies. We developed a strategic, phased remediation plan that addressed both the immediate failures and the systemic vulnerabilities in the building’s original construction.
Throughout the implementation phase, BMC provided contractor coordination, QA inspections, and field-based problem solving to ensure the newly integrated systems met performance standards. Our work helped Mississippi Blood Services return the facility to full operational reliability, protecting both their mission and their infrastructure investment.
Why It Matters:
In critical healthcare and service buildings, the consequences of envelope failure go far beyond maintenance costs. BMC’s work at Mississippi Blood Services underscores the importance of precise diagnosis, practical remediation, and expert oversight when correcting moisture intrusion in mission-critical facilities. The result was a safer, more resilient building ready to serve its community for decades.
